We have often thought that a radio drama of people freed from a life of sin through Jesus Christ, would really catch the attention of listeners on Harvest Radio, and give them hope in their lives.  Although the 1/2-hour radio drama “Unshackled” fits that description exactly, it was not previously available in Portuguese.

After significant prayer, and trusting the Lord to supply our needs, we have begun a partnership with Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago (www.pgm.org) to produce “Unshackled” in Portuguese!

Once we began, we were overwhelmed both by the size of the project we had undertaken, as well as with how the Lord orchestrated the whole project!  For the first episodes, the Lord provided us with a capable translator, 25 volunteer actors from the Nova Russas Church, a talented musician to “Brazilianize” the music, a professional narrator who volunteered his voice for the Lord, and several young men excited to learn sound editing.

Daniel Bernstrom, from Minnesota, (www.facinggrace.com) spent a month with us teaching us everything we could absorb about audio drama recording and editing.  The end result was 2  pilot programs finishe and sent off to Pacific Garden Mission for evaluation.  What celebration when we heard our programs were approved!

The first episode of “Algemas Quebradas” went on the air in January 2012, even though we knew we didn’t have enough finished to keep it up. We have done lots of repeating on the air, but we continue producing, finishing up our 19th episode this week. We currently have over 70 actors from 4 churches helping!
