FM 102.7

January 24th, 2018

The big day has arrived!  Technically, we were actually ready several weeks before we could go on the air.  We did a couple of test runs, turning the transmitter on and off.  It’s worked.   So we waited.

And then we got the word – the permission was granted!  In the interest of PR, we did a social-media campaign counting down the days until we would change over.

With a couple of taps on his phone, Elwyn turned on the transmitter (10 miles away) of 102.7 on and we began officially transmitting.

Those of you who have been with us for awhile, know how long this has been in the works:

2013 – The President of Brasil signed into law the plans for migrating all AM stations to the FM.

2014 – We began researching what frequency would be best.

2014 – 102.7 was approved as our “move-to” frequency

2015 – Began fundraising – an estimated $324,000.00 needed

2015 – Submitted the first of our documentation needed to request migration.

2016 – In January we began scouting out the best route for a road to the top of the hill where we wanted to put our tower.  A road had never before been  cut completely to the top.

2016 – February, a bulldozer started cutting the road.

2017 – One year later, we had a good road, the tower was installed, the transmitter container in place at the base of the tower, and the power company was beginning to take power up the hill.

2017 – In August our project was declared officially fully funded!

December 18, 2017 we were on the air!!!  All praise to the Lord.  So many things happened where we could see his intervention, from timing to safety to finances.
