Harvest Radio, located in Nova Russas, Ceara,  is comprised of two radio stations….AM 780 and FM 103.3.  AM 780, has the larger listening audience broadcasting with 10,000 watts of power.  FM 103.3, having the same programming, offers a clearer signal for those within it’s area. FM 103.3 has the larger coverage area at night, since our AM license requires us to lower the power of AM 780.

The purpose for both stations is to help in the work of Avant Ministries in planting churches in the locations where there are the least amount of evangelicals.  When the stations were bought, there were 18 municipalities within the broadcast area of AM 780, which had less than 2% evangelicals, according to the 2000 census.  We are eagerly awaiting the results of the 2010 census, to see how we’re doing!

The programming (all in Portuguese)  is carefully planned to attract listeners with quality music, public service announcements, and tips for families.  Scattered throughout the day are short devotionals, Bible reading, and question and answer programs.  We also broadcast a number of 1/2 hours preaching programs (including Through the Bible, Insight for Living, and Back to the Bible along with others)  to aid in grounding believers in the Word.
